A far better method is to use an inline filter that you can buy from garden supply outlets. Its about 150mm long and 25mm in diameter. You can unscrew either end and remove the filter inside to clean and replace. Each end has the normal garden hose type coupling. Put the filter anywhere between your pump and HWS.

Anyone know where to get a water heater for the dredge? Not looking to set up a heated wet suit just want a bucket of hot water to warm the hands in. What I am going to use is a tankless hot water heater because I want it on demand, not constant.
